How to Extend the Lifespan of Your Laptop

Life of a laptop is somewhat the responsibility of its owner. The longer you treat it well, the longer it shall work for you.
Replacing a laptop could be delayed for many reasons- For example, if you’re financially down during the current period of time, you’ll have to adjust to what you have.
Therefore, extending the lifespan of a laptop is entirely in your hands, and there are many ways to do so, which shall be discussed here.
So, the precautions you can take to save your laptop from exhausting before the time are:
  1. Pamper and Treat Well
Pampering and treating well doesn’t mean you have to do something extra for your laptop to work. It just means that you must follow some basic methodology and respect what you have. Some important rules to implement are:
  1. Avoid keeping your laptop in a hot and humid atmosphere.
  2. Never keep your laptop on a spot where it’s accessible to kids or pets easily.
  3. Do not place your laptop or any other gadgets at a place, from where it can fall off.
  4. Keep your laptop out of reach from the dusty environment.
  5. Do not put your laptop on ‘Sleep Mode’ for too long as it can heat up and its speed decreases.
  6. Do not leave your laptop plugged-in for charging all the time. It can cause damage to its working.
  7. Clean your Laptop
It is a very small thing to dust off your laptop or clean all the keycaps, especially when you’re working with it all the time. These things do not come to notice even! But, what if a little cleaning and dusting saves your laptop?
All you need to do is clean your screen, spaces, vents, etc, and you’re good to go. Just a little effort like this can save your money.
  1. Update your Laptop
No magic can repair your laptop in a blink of the eye. There are some human efforts you’ll have to make to make your relationship with your laptop a little smooth.
The first and foremost thing to care about, as mentioned above, is do not heat your laptop to an extent where it stops working at all. Putting your laptop on ‘sleep Mode’ for all night because you again have to start working the next morning, is not at all a good idea.
Secondly, if you feel, you can reinstall the version for your laptop, which will increase the speed of its working. But, here’s a little catch. It might lead to dis-functioning of the programs which were working well earlier. Think twice before taking this step.
  1. Accessorize your Laptop
Adding ports and external accessories like keyboard, Mouse, etc can save your laptop going through a lot of roughness. One good thing about using external devices is, you can replace them anytime if they’ve stopped using.
Also, basic external devices like Keyboard are affordable to use.
  1. Upgrade your Laptop
Shifting from your old laptop to a new one can be a very expensive deal. Not a lot, but upgrading your laptop can make a difference in your working experience. Small steps, like changing your battery if it’s commutable, once it starts wearing off, can be a good start.
The second step would be freeing up space in your laptop. If you have a lot of files stocked up and not in use, delete or transfer those files to some other backup account rather than keeping it. Sometimes, the speed of your laptop varies depending on the storage capacity.
